Cans and solocans are coated with a thin layer of 99.999% pure tin. Tin is a soft metal and can be scratched with a fingernail or any hard object. For this reason, marks, scratches, and abrasions may appear on the surface of cans and solocans during manufacturing. The applied coating technologies do not allow to achieve uniform tin coating of cans, therefore, areas of uneven coatings with different thicknesses, color shades and smoothness of the coating are possible on the can surface. Tin oxidizes easily in contact with the sweat of the hands, making the color darker.
